"The Apogee of 30th Century Shipping"
The legend, the foundation, the First Division. The Chimera Transport Division has been called many things in its storied existence, but "slow" was never one of them. Equipped with the finest in transport ships, run by a professional team of logistics specialists, experienced tradesmen, and master pilots, the Transport Division offers an opportunity for traders of every walk of life and predilection to experience the perfect trader experience.
Transport Honor Roll
3rd Transport Squadron "Pamplona": Living by their motto "Praecurro," to surpass, the 3rd Transport Squadron is one of the longest serving and most storied squadrons in the Chimera corporation. Named for a city in the ancient nation of Spain, where it was customary to run through the town streets trying to outrun a stampede of bulls, Pamplona's unstoppable performance mirrors that same stampede. Speaking rather cryptically after they broke their own record for the third time between Terra and Stanton, Selleck quipped that they could "make the Kessel Run in 10 parsecs." Pamplona members are known for flying stripped-down ships built for raw speed over defensive measures: a Pamplona pilot believes their speed is their greatest asset; it is not unknown for Pamplona pilots to leave their Security allies struggling to keep up as their modded Freelancer MAXs outpace their fighter escorts. It is also rumored that a number of Murray Cup competitors, and even a champion, fly for Pamplona under pseudonyms.
1st Heavy Transport Unit "Atlas Squadron": Atlas may have carried the world on his shoulders, but the 1st Heavy Transport Unit can carry whole star systems. Outfitted with the largest transport ships on the market, from the lumbering Starfarer to the elegant Banu Merchantman, the Atlas Squadron moves the largest cargo known to the 'verse. In one legendary move that remains officially classified, it is rumored an Atlas heavy tug responded to a Bengal carrier's SOS after its main engines were disabled in a raid. The tug, working its engines 10% over their safety margin, hauled the carrier for three weeks to the nearest UEE dry dock. Reportedly, Selleck had little to say when he saw the funds transfer from the UEE, but a top executive speaking anonymously "Thank[ed] the taxpayers for military spending!"
4th Transport Squadron "The Shifters": The 4th Transport Squadron was designed as a rapid-reaction client service as part of the 3rd Transport Squadron. Where the 3rd emphasized speed on standard delivery, a small section preferred to simply be available at "the drop of a hat." Customers were so shocked that within the day of contracting the company, a ship of the exact size they requested was available at their landing port, the demand skyrocketed and pilots were pushed to the limit trying to keep their standards. As soon as word of these dedicated pilots reached Selleck's ear, he made them their own Squadron and pushed more pilots into the program. "Shifting" is now one of the most popular transport services available to major sellers, and has triggered a "shift" in industry thinking towards flexible timing as opposed to rigid transport schedules.
9th Materiel Delivery Company "Valkyries": Not every Transport job is peaceful or safe. Chimera fields a number of capital ships and operates large scale operations on the fringes of civilized space, as well as performing numerous humanitarian missions; each of these expensive and critical assets must be supplied even during "inconvenient" moments such as direct assaults, and that is when the Valkyries ride in. The Valkyries are composed of only the most unhinged pilots, and are an all-volunteer unit that has been formed and disbanded more than any other squadron in Chimera as needs change or attrition takes its toll. They serve to bring supplies into conflict zones through savage fire, and always without escort cover. Each crew is given as much ammunition and fuel as is needed to make the full trip (though it is well known that very few will need the return supplies, and some pilots will forgo the extra weight for added speed to ensure they complete the drop) and sent in a wave to support each other for as long as they hold up. More than any other unit in Chimera, even those of lauded Security fighter wings, the Valkyries command the most respect both in and out of the corporation, as it is one thing to fly headlong into combat in a fighter, it is another to do so in a fully-loaded, unprotected transport ship. To date, the pilots of the 9th have received 7 Imperial Crosses for , and two posthumous medals
